Schuylkill's Gallagher elected area rep for nine area counties

Mantura M. Gallagher, chairman of the board of Schuylkill County Commissioners, was elected to the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) as District VI Representative on the board of directors at the 124th annual conference of the association held recently in Centre County.

As District VI Representative, Gallagher will represent Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Northampton, Schuylkill and York counties. She is also a member of the CCAP Human Services Committee and serves as the chairman of the Academy for Excellence, of which she is a graudate."The Association serves to strengthen the ability of Pennsylvania's counties to govern their own affairs and improve the well-being and quality of life for their constituents," remarked Joe Giles, president of CCAP and an Erie County council member. "To this end, the association affects the achievement of favorable state legislation, programs and policies and provides appropriate programs and services to member counties.""I know how these issues impact Schuylkill County. We share many of the same challenges as other counties statewide, I will give Schuylkill County a stronger voice," Gallagher said.CCAP was founded in 1886 and is an affiliate of the National Association of Counties and will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2011. It strengthens the counties' abililties to govern their own affairs and to improve the well-being and quallity of life for every Pennsylvania resident. It advocates for favorable state and federal legislation, programs and policies on behalf of counties and is committed to service excellence through education, information, insurance, technology and other programs that supoort effective county government.
