Lansford Fire Co. seeks grant for station repairs

Members of the American Hose Company of Lansford are concerned about the condition of the fire house and reportedly are seeking a grant to have renovation work done.

It was noted that there are serious structural concerns.Stuctural deterioration includes cracks and missing bricks on the west side of the building.The topic was brought up during a meeting of Lansford Borough Council, during which Council President Robert Gaughan remarked he is willing to meet with the firefighters but "I won't participate in a screaming match."Council member Tommy Vadyak said he would like to see the intentions of the firefighters.He said he will contact Joe Greco of the fire department to discuss the matter.The fire station is located in the same building as Lansford Borough offices.It was noted that the fire company has hired McLean Design Group of Jim Thorpe to do a structural review of the building at a cost of $2,980. The fire company is paying for the study, it was noted."I don't think it's any surprise," Gaughan said regarding the matter, "and I think it is understood that those buildings over the years show some wear and tear."The fire station is located along Patterson Street.
