The Lewistown Valley Garden Club held its Spring Tea at Zion's Social Hall in Lewistown. Guest speaker was Sandy Anthony of Down Memory Lane, who presented a program of floral arranging and gardening tips. The completed arrangements were presented to selected members and guests.The theme for the event was "Garden Party." Evelyn Adams created the tea table arrangement with Linda Leiby and Mary Bridygham serving as the pourers. The refreshment committee was composed of Kathy McGee, Pam Klitch and Sue Hower.The next meeting will be held May 25 and will include a tour of the gardens of Helen Moyer, Freidensburg.For more information, contact President June Leiby at (570) 668-4288.TEPTOThe Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will meet at 6 p.m. today at Schick's Cafe on Mauch Chunk Street. Members will then have dinner following the meeting.Olympic Day will be held this Wednesday. Students are reminded to wear the T-shirts they received. There will also be a band concert on Wednesday.The second-grade class trip will be to the Crayola Factory, while third grade classes will visit the Quiet Valley Farm.Friday is a teacher in-service day. Students will have the day off.SS. Peter and PaulAscension Thursday will be observed this week in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Pine Street. Masses for this holy day of obligation will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, 8 and 9 a.m. on Thursday.Class of 1970The Tamaqua High School Class of 1970 will hold a reunion in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The event will be held Sept. 11, from 6-11 p.m., at the Tamaqua Elks. The evening will include a buffet meal, cash bar and music.
