Barnesville man sent to state prison for theft and forgery

A Barnesville man, who entered guilty pleas to forgery, theft and other charges, was sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin Wednesday in the Schuylkill County Court to a total of 18 to 36 months in a state correctional institution.

Two Coaldale men pleaded guilty to drug charges.Russell J. Nelson, 28, of 83 Fairview Street, on a charge of theft by unlawful taking of a truck filed by Patrolman Brian Thompson, Rush Township police, was sentenced to serve nine to 23 months, pay $300 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to the Criminal Jusitce Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, and make restitution of $477.60 to J.N. Zaprazny Inc. On a charge of receiving a welding cable and steel stolen from the David Mazaika Coal Company, Rush Township, was sentenced to serve six to 12 months, pay $50 to the CJEA fund and make restitution of $630 to David Mazaika. He was cited by Patrolman Duane Frederick, Rush Township police. On a charge of forging a check he was sentenced to serve nine to 23 months, pay $50 to the CJEA fund and make restitution of $513.67 to Red and White Market, North Manheim Township. He was cited by Trooper John D. Powis.On a second charge of forgery he was sentenced to serve 16 to 23 months, pay $50 to the CJEA fund and make restitution of $612.63 to Edward Paperman, We R Cigarettes Store, Tamaqua. He was cited by Cpl. Henry Woods, Tamaqua police. On a charge of default in required appearance was sentenced to serve two to four months. He was cited by Det. Dennis Clark, district attorney's office.Two Coaldale men entered guilty pleas to drug charges and received probation sentences.Brandon Leslie, 22, of 167 W. Moser Ave., was sentenced on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia to serve probation for one year, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the CJEA fund, make restitution of $176 to the Bethlehem Regional Lab and a $50 per month supervision fee. On the charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana he was placed on probation for 30 days to run concurrent.Leslie was cited by Patrolman Thomas Rodgers, Tamaqua police. On similar charges filed by Keith Krapf, Coaldale police, he received concurrent sentences but has to pay $100 to the SAE fund and $50 to the CJEA fund and a $50 monthly supervision fee.Timothy H. O'Brien, 21, of 272 Third Street, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation for 12 months, ordered to pay $100 to the SAE fund and $50 to the CJEA fund plus a $50 monthly supervision fee. The sentence is to run consecutive to a sentence imposed by Judge Charles M. Miller in August 2008 when O'Brien, after entering a guilty plea to theft charges, was sentenced to serve one month in the county prison followed by 23 months on probation. O'Brien was cited on the drug charge by Patrolman Robert Minnick, Coaldale police.Wayne Delmar Curry, 46, Quakake, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to the SAE fund, $50 to the CJEA fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund and make restitution of $60 to the Schuylkill Medical Center. His driver's license is suspended 12 months.On a charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $200 plus costs. He also must pay a $50 monthly supervision fee for each month on probation and receive outpatient treatment. On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was placed on probation for 30 days to run concurrent with the DUI sentence, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the CJEA fund and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Curry was cited by Patrolman Robert Senope, Mahanoy Township police, for the DUI and by Patrolman Michael Dissinger, Mahanoy City police, for the drug charge.Brad Alan Eiler, 27, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of harassment was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to the CJEA fund, a $50 monthly supervision fee. Eiler was cited by Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner, Schuylkilll Haven police. The police report said he threatened to burn the car of Denise Kramer.Phillip Holzer, 29, Schuylkill Haven, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the CJEA fund, $100 to the Catastrophe fund, a $50 monthly supervision fee and his license is suspended 18 months. On a charge of reckless driving was fined $200 and costs. Holzer was cited by Patrolman Meisner, Schuylkill Haven.Randall John Kechula, 48, Mahanoy City, on a charge of terroristic threats was given credit for 246 days spent in the county prison and released on probation for 23 months, He was cited by Patrolman Charles Kovaleski, Mahanoy City police.On a charge of simple assault filed by Lt. John Kaczmarczyk, Mahanoy City police, he was placed on probation for 23 months to run concurrent to the first sentence, pay $50 to the CJEA fund, a $50 monthly supervision fee and make restitution of $75 to guardian of a teenager.Sean M. Lennon, 34, Hamburg, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $50 monthly supervision fee, receive outpatient treatment and his driver's license is suspended 18 months.On a charge of driving whilie his license was suspended was sentenced to serve 60 days but it runs concurrent with the DUI sentence. On a charge of being involved in an accident with another vehicle was fined $2,500 and costs and on a charge of reckless driving was fined $200 and costs. Lennon was cited by Patrolman Meisner.
