Joseph Kosalko, 30, Box 340, Albrightsville, faces charges from an incident which took place on Jan. 11 at 11:48 p.m. at Ridge and Cortright streets, Lansford.

Charges were filed by Officer Tom Fort. Kosalko is charged with one count of driving under the influence (DUI) and failing to stop at a stop sign.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Fort was on duty and traveling north on Cortright street, coming to the intersection of West Ridge, which has four stop signs. He noticed a green vehicle traveling west approach the stop sign, but the driver failed to come to a complete stop. The vehicle then traveled south on Cortright toward Fort's marked cruiser.

Fort stopped the vehicle, and, as he asked the driver for his license, registration and proof of insurance, noticed that his eyes were watery and bloodshot, his speech slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. Kosalko refused to take field sobriety tests.

He was taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for blood alcohol tests.
