@Caption Stand Alone:BML team cops  District 7 title Blue Mountain League 9-year old and under tournament team finished as Cal Ripken District 7 champs and advanced to the state tournament. Players on the team are from Lehighton and Northern Lehigh School Districts. The Franklin Township Hurricanes were eliminated from the Keystone Babe Ruth playoffs and the Franklin 15-year old Babe Ruth All-Stars were ousted from the Pennsylvania State tournament over the weekend.

The Hurricanes managed two runs in the top of the first and that was it as they were eliminated by the Hurricanes by a 8-2 score on Saturday.

Adam Recker got the win in the National Division Final, while Dave Behler suffered the loss.

The Franklin Hurricanes advanced to the winner's bracket final of the National Division and the Panther Valley Black Diamonds stayed alive in the loser's bracket of the American Division in the Keystone Senior Babe Ruth playoffs.

The Hurricanes host No.2 seed Bushkill Township Minutement tonight at Christman's Field. The Black Diamonds travel to East Stroudsburg tomorrow night for a 6 p.m. game against the Mustangs.

Tamaqua won its third straight game in the Schuylkill-Berks Legion playoffs, defeating Southern Area on Thursday.

Tamaqua is the only undefeated team remaining in the North Division playoffs of the Schuylkill-Berks Legion Baseball League after defeating Southern Area, 11-4.

The Blue Sox got a strong pitching performance from Tyler Milot and outstanding hitting from the top of their line-up to capture the winner's bracket final of the double-elimination tournament.

The Tamaqua 11-12 Little League All-Stars advanced to Friday's loser's bracket final with a 15-5 four-inning win over West Hazleton on Wednesday night.

Tamaqua had the big bats out in its win over West Hazleton as Zack Coleman blasted two home runs, while Jon Hadesty and Conner Hartung added roundtrippers in the win.

The locals scored every time at bat with three in the first, seven in the second and five in the third.

Hartung, Matt Minchoff and Coleman combined on a three-hitter for Tamaqua.

Dave Behler pitched a shutout to help the Franklin Township Hurricanes defeat Hazleton.

Dave Behler tossed a one-hitter to lead the Franklin Township Hurricanes to an 8-0 victory over the Hazleton Mountaineers.

Behler struck out 14 batters to help his team improve to 12-1.

Brandyn Gatens slugged a homer for the winners.

Franklin Township won a pair of games this week to stay alive in the District 18 11-12 year-old double-elimination Little League Tournament.

FT-Anthracite

Dante Salerno and Brody Hydro both had big games to lead Franklin Township to an 18-0 victory over Anthracite in a loser's bracket game on Wednesday.

Salerno and Hydro both had three hits and score three runs. Wyatt Clements added a home run for Franklin while Evan Haberman and Tegan Durishin chipped in two hits each.

Brady Niehoff was the winning pitcher.

The FC Panthers, affiliated with the Panther Valley Youth Soccer Association, placed first in a recent 3v3 Soccer tournament held at the Lehighton Area High School Complex. The U8/U9 champions include, front row from left, Aaron Miller, Bradley Bussard, Carter Brettle; back row, Mitchell Sabol, Lexi Ruzicka, Blake Morgans and Austin Buyce. The coaches are Doug Yoder and Jack Ruzicka. The team went 4-0, outscoring their opponents 38-2 and qualified for the 2010 National Tournament to be held in Hamilton, Ohio.
