Palmerton Area Library hosts annual Quilt Show

It's October and the nights are becoming cooler. It's time to cover up to stay warm. Nothing says "warm and cozy" like a handmade quilt. Even attending a Quilt Show can help you feel warm and cozy. The Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, will host its seventh annual Quilt Show from noon until 4 p.m. Sunday. The event is sponsored by The Sew What Quilt Guild.

There will be many quilts, new and old, on display, thanks to talented and creative local quilters.Cheryl Hank, a certified Quilt In A Day instructor will be giving demos during the day. A quilt historian will be present to help provide information on old quilts.Those attending will be able to vote for the quilt of their choice for "Best of Show." There will be three prizes for the top three choices.There will also be vendors, door prizes and the opportunity to win a handmade quilt, quilted by the ladies of Union United Church of Christ in Neffs."We invite everyone to come help support the library and our library's Quilt Guild," says Terri Sheckler, a coordinator of the event."And come to see some beautiful works of art," adds Brenda Wentz.A small donation is requested and all proceeds benefit the library.If you have quilts, quilted items, items that you have sewn and would like to display them at the show, please bring those items to the library by noon on Saturday.For more information about the show or for information on displaying a new or antique quilt, contact the library at 610-826-3424.
