Anna Ogozalek, formerly of Lansford, celebrated her 101st birthday on Friday. She is currently a guest at the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Anna was born Oct. 26, 1911 to the late Joseph and Mary (Kocon) Porambo. She is the oldest of eight children.

She was married to the late Joseph Ogozalek and has three children: son Len Ogozalek, daughter Virginia Clemmer Zabo, and the late Joseph "Buddy" Ogozalek. She also has seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and 27 nieces and nephews.

"It's amazing. It's unbelievable, 101 years," said son Len, noting that Anna's brother, Walter Porambo, is 92 years old.

"Her family came from longevity. Good genes."

Anna enjoys and looks forward to family visits. The Ogozalek family celebrated her milestone birthday with a family gathering on Friday night.

"Family is very important to her," Len added. "She came from a large family, and we always had family functions."

Anna is a member of St. Katharine Drexel Church in Lansford. She worked in a garment factory to support her family, retiring at the age of 70. She also enjoys playing bingo and listening to polka, especially the Pennsylvania Villagers.

Her son "Buddy" was a member of the Pennsylvania Villagers, and grandson Joe is a current member of the Pennsylvania Villagers.
