State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating several crashes, including one in which the driver is facing several charges.
A one vehicle accident occurred about 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, along Merwinsburg Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Marco A. Colon, 39, of Effort, was driving a 2000 Honda CR-V southbound when he failed to negotiate a left curve. The vehicle went into the northbound lane and off onto the berm where it struck rocks on the property at 236 Merwinsburg Road.
Troopers said Colon then fled the scene on foot and was later located. Damages to the vehicle were disabling.
Colon was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, and duty to give information and render aid.
A two vehicle crash occurred about 6:58 p.m. on Saturday, on Meckesville Road, near SR5234, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Carmen J. Caruso IV, 19, of Lansford, was driving a 2005 Ford Focus SE and traveling around a detour at a bridge construction site when he traveled across the road and hit a parked construction vehicle.
Caruso and his passenger, Nicholas T. Appel, 18, of Albrightsville, were not injured. Troopers said Caruso was cited for careless driving.
A crash occurred about 6:21 a.m. on June 14 along Sugar Hollow Road, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Jenna M. Sargent, 21, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am westbound and attempting to cross from Hawk Terrace and struck a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Judith L. Rodgers, 53, of Saylorsburg, who pulled from Hawk Terrace.
No one was injured. Troopers cited Rodgers for a stop sign violation.
