Sara Hodon of Coaldale and Frank Karnish of Summit Hill have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Meryl Hodon, Weatherly, and the late William Hodon. She is a graduate of Panther Valley High School and has a bachelor of arts degree in English from Lebanon Valley College.

She is a candidate for a master of arts in English at Kutztown University.

She is employed as the academic affairs adviser at Triangle Tech in Bethlehem, and is an adjunct instructor of English at Lehigh Carbon Community College.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Francis and Maryann Karnish of Lansford. He is a graduate of Moravian College, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in biology and chemistry.

He is currently pursuing his master of education degree at Alvernia University and is employed as a chemistry teacher at Panther Valley High School.

A spring 2013 wedding is planned.
