A Coaldale man was arrested by Tamaqua police for being involved in a confrontation with officers on Sept. 11.
Patrolman Thomas Duarte was dispatched to the Citizen's Fire Company, Rowe Street, at 2:15 a.m. for a reported disturbance. On his way to the fire company Duarte noticed a man matching the description he was given of the suspect. The officer approached the male, identified as Michael T. Watkins. Upon seeing the officer Watkins left the sidewalk and began charging towards Duarte, who ordered him to stop several times. When Watkins shoved the officer he was taken to the ground and a scuffle ensued until Duarte was able to slap a set of handcuffs on Watkins.
Transported to the police station, Watkins was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
