Tamaqua Area announces mandatory drug testing dates

The Tamaqua Area School District has announced the following schedule for mandatory drug testing for all students in grades 7-12 intending to participate in any athletic activity, non-athletic club, national charter, and/or requesting driving/parking privileges during the 2010-2011 school year.

All particpating male students, grades 7-12, must report to the high school between the hours of 8-11 a.m. on either Monday or Tuesday, August 2 or 3.All participating female students, grades 7-12, must report to the high school between the hours of 8-11 a.m. on either Wednesday or Thursday, August 4 or 5.The make up date for all students will be Monday, August 9, between 8-11 a.m.No student will be able to participate in a co-curricular activity or drive/park on school property during the 2010-2011 school year prior to testing. Parents and students will be required to sign a consent form and a release of information form prior to the testing date. Forms are available in the high school, middle school, and district offices.An information session for students and parents will be held in the Tamaqua Area School District Auditorium on Wednesday, July 28 at 6 p.m. Attendance is encouraged.For more information, contact Stephen Toth, High School Assistant Principal at (570) 668-1901.
