Peter Turko of Palmerton, center, was honored by the Carbon County Democratic Executive Committee on Thursday night at its monthly meeting, for his longtime service to the party. Turko has been a member of the party's executive committee since 1956, during which time he held several chairmanships and served in numerous capacities, including having been the party's state committeeman for 12 years. Party Chairman Frank Jacobs, left, presented a plaque to Turko "for many years of devoted service to the advancement of the Democratic Party" while Vice Chairwoman Rose Walck presented a citation from the state House of Representatives, sponsored by Rep. Keith McCall.
