A motorcyclist is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a crash. State police at Lehgihton said the accident occurred about 8:36 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, along Trachsville Hill Road, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers were attempting to stop a motorcycle for several motor vehicle code violations when the driver attempted to flee. The driver crashed the bike and was apprehended.

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several crashes investigated by troopers recently on Monroe County roads.

A crash was reported at 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 along State Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Jennifer L. Davison, 28, of Effort, was southbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid the deer and struck it. Her 1999 Volkswagen Jetta was disabled due to damages but she was not injured.

State police at Lehighton are investigating a burglary that occurred at a Carbon County residence.

Troopers said the home of Patricia Woods, 51, of Pine Run Rd., Lehighton, Towamensing Township, was entered sometime between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, and removed was prescription pills and a safe containing jewelry.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a hit and run crash over the past weekend. It was one of three crashes probed by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a theft incident at a construction site in Monroe County.

Troopers said unknown persons stole several metal weights from a John Deere 320 tractor while parked along Five Springs Road, in Jackson Township. The theft occurred sometime between Sunday, Oct. 23, at 4:30 p.m. and Monday at 8 a.m.

The tractor is owned by M.K. Contractors Inc., of Towanda, Bradford County.

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a one vehicle crash that occurred about 8:51 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, along State Road near Lake Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Maria Sorrentino, 21, of Effort, was driving a 2003 Dodge Neon eastbound when she lost control. The vehicle left the road and struck an embankment and then overturned onto its roof. The car continued to travel on its roof for about 20 feet before coming to rest on its roof in the eastbound lane.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a burglary and two acts of criminal mischief.

The break-in occurred at the residence of Margaret Shinsec, 64, of Station St., Lehighton, Towamensing Township. Sometime between Saturday, Oct. 16, and Monday, criminals entered the home and removed cash and jewelry.

Jim Thorpe police are investigating the theft of two pedestrian crossing signs in the borough.

The signs were taken on Sept. 28 and Oct. 24. The signs was removed from the area of Sixth and North sts.

Police ask anyone with information concerning these thefts to call them at (570) 325-4995. A monetary reward will be given to anyone with information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the thefts.

No injuries were reported in two Schuylkill County crashes that occurred this week.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said a one vehicle crash occurred about 11:39 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, along Rock Road (SR895), Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Jason P. Martin, 19, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound when he told officers he took his eyes off the road. The car left the road and struck a wooden chainlinked fence at 64 Rock Rd. The property owner was identified as Duane L. Brandt, 47, of that address.

An area couple has been cited by Summit Hill police for assaulting each other.

According to borough police, on Sept. 17, they received a report of an assault that took place at 30 W. Holland St.

Upon investigation officers learned that Joshua Berko, 22, of 263 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, and Danielle Woods, 21, of 30 W. Holland St., had been fighting. It was reported that Berko became aggitated with Woods and assaulted her and Woods fought back, assaulting him.

Both were charged with simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
