Lack of sleep was reportedly to blame for a two-vehicle accident in Tamaqua Thursday morning, March 31.

James Heiney, 43, of McAdoo, was traveling west on Broad Street in a 2003 Toyota Avalon at 8:32 a.m. when his car drifted across the center line and into the eastbound lane.

The Toyota struck a 1999 Ford F150 pickup truck, which was being driven by Brad Matalavage, 40, of Tamaqua.

Heiney told police he fell asleep for a second. Neither driver was injured in the accident, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

State police at Frackville are investigating two burglaries at two Schuylkill County locations.

A storage trailer located along Wildcat Road, in Walker Township, was entered sometime between March 31 and Saturday, April 2. Removed from the trailer were several items including two handguns, a generator, several power tools, tool boxes containing tools and motorcross helmets. The property owner was identified as Nathan Reinhart, 34, of Slatington.

A wanted fugitive was apprehended by Pocono Mountain Regional police following a routine traffic stop.

According to the Pocono Mountain Regional police report, on March 30, at 1:59 a.m., police conducted a vehicle stop along Route 196 in Mount Pocono for a vehicle code violation.

Officers spoke with the driver and passengers of the vehicle. Through further investigation, it was revealed that the passenger, David Mendez, 31, of Tobyhanna, had a bench warrant out of Lackawanna County for failure to appear for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

A hit and run driver is being sought in Schuylkill County. The crash is one of three probed by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said on Sunday, April 3, about 11:20 a.m. Rhoda Corbacio, 46, of Pottsville, was driving eastbound on S. Center St., at the Mount Carbon Arch, near the intersection with SR61, in North Manheim Township. She stopped at the intersection for a red traffic light when the front end of another vehicle hit the rear of Corbacio's Toyota Sienna. Corbacio and the other driver exited their vehicles and checked the damages.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an incident that occurred during the early hours of Sunday, April 3, in the borough of Cressona.

Troopers said about 2:20 a.m. Gray Troy, 34, of Shenandoah, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado along SR183 and behind a Jeep Cherokee, white in color. In the area of Second Street, when the Jeep stopped in the middle of the road with several persons exiting it and running back to Troy's vehicle. The unknown persons then began to pound on the windows of Troy's vehicle.

State police at Lehighton reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers over the past weekend.

On Friday, April 1, about 7:53 p.m. troopers stopped Connor L. Purington, 18, of Saylorsburg, for a vehicle code violation along Pohopoco Road at Station St., in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Purington was found to be under the influence and placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.

State police at Frackville reported investigating a one vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, that occurred about 8:20 a.m. on Friday, April 1.

Troopers said Jeffrey W. Merwine, 24, of Ashland, was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus northbound when he lost control causing the car to strike a tree in the median. Merwine sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention, trooopers said.

The body found near the Schuylkill Mall in March has been identified.

State police at Frackville said through their investigation, the county coroner's office and Dr. Richard Bindie, forensic pathologist at the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, it was determined that the body was that of Ronald Louis Coy Sr., 46, of Iowa.

Two Schuylkill County drivers are facing charges of hit and run in separate incidents that occurred on Tuesday, March 29.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the first incident occurred about 10:35 a.m. at 3017 Chestnut St., Port Carbon, in East Norwegian Township. Troopers said Kevin J. Shrawder, 40, of Carlisle, Cumberland County, was at the above- -stated address in an attempt to repossess a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta belonging to Michael A. Flickinger, 35, of Port Carbon, which was parked in the driveway of the residence.

A Schuylkill County man has been charged with violating a protection from abuse (PFA) order.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Allen Enders, of Pine Grove, was charged with indirect criminal contempt for having contact with his estranged wife, Stephanie Enders, in the parking lot area of the Stop & Rock, in Pine Grove Township. The incident occurred about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, troopers said.

Enders was arraigned before District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, and released after posting 10 percent of $5,000 bail.
