Two Monroe County residents are facing charges after the vehicle they were riding in hit a state police cruiser and then the two fled the scene, but were caught. State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred about 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, at the intersection of Kunkletown and Fiddletown roads, in Eldred Township.

Troopers Todd Jones and Kristen Bauchspies were on patrol and sitting in a stationary position at a stop sign at the above stated intersection when a vehicle, traveling in the opopsite direction, struck the cruiser and then took off.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the break-ins of several vehicles in the same area of Schuylkill County with numerous items and money taken. Troopers said the break-ins occurred along the 200 block of W. Washington St., 500 block of E. Grand Ave. and the unit block of S. Seventh St. in the Tower City/Porter Township area.

A West Penn Township man was cited by Tamaqua police on May 30 after testing positive for alcohol consumption.

Officer Thomas Duarte was on patrol at 1:28 a.m. when he observed a silver Acura illegally parked on Cedar Street. As the officer exited his vehicle to issue a parking ticket the Acura began moving. Duarte noticed the right taillight was broken and initiated a vehicle stop.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating two theft incidents, in one incident a fire company is the victim and in the second a firefighter.

Troopers said unknown criminals removed a generator from the back of a vehicle owned by the Independent Hose Company, East Norwegian Township, sometime between 11 p.m. on June 23 and 1 p.m. June 24. Troopers said the generator was used earlier in the evening at the fire company's annual carnival.

State police at Lehighton are probing the theft of a handgun from a vehicle.

Troopers said Justin Haydt, 21, of Palmerton, reported a 9mm Highpoint handgun was removed from his car while parked at 1465 Walnut St., Towamensing Township. The theft occurred sometime between Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating two burglaries and theft incidents.

A break-in occurred at a residence at 8484 Towamensing Trail, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. The entry was reported about 1:14 p.m. on June 17.

A glass window was broken to gain entry at the rear of the home. Nothing was reported taken. The home is owned by Robert and Rita Altomari, of Bensalem, Bucks County.

Two domestic incidents, both occurring on Sunday, June 19, led to charges being filed against two individuals.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported at 3:10 a.m. officers were on patrol along SR196 near Domino's Pizza shop in Mt. Pocono when they observed a male and female verbally arguing in the parking lot. When police pulled into the lot the male put the female in a bear hug and pinned her against the car.

State police at Fern Ridge reported a fugitive from justice was nabbed in Monroe County.

Troopers said Robert Francis Guadagno, 24, of Pocono Lake, went to the American Sport Shooting store in Chestnuthill Township, about 4:33 p.m .on June 23 and attempted to purchase a firearm.

A background check was run by the store and it was learned that Guadagno had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued out of Queens, N.Y., for failure to appear for a drug charge.

He was taken into custody and placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending extradition to New York.

State police at Lehighton reported on two, one-vehicle crashes investigated by troopers, both occurring on Saturday, June 25, and both in Carbon County.

The first occurred about 2:30 a.m. along Blakeslee Boulevard (SR443), near Gilberts Hill Road, in Mahoning Township. Troopers said Charann M Ahner, 27, of Lehighton, was operating a 1996 Plymouth Neon westbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid the animal and struck it with the front passenger side of her Neon.

Ahner was not injured.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI).

State police at Frackville said David Kuczynski, 56, of Zion Grove, was stopped for a traffic violation about 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, along SR924 in Shenandoah. He showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests, troopers said.

He was then transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
