Outreach meeting

The Outreach Committee of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at the home of Mary Ellen Ogozalek, 246 E. Bertsch St.

The meeting is open to interested persons.

Summit Hill

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Feb. 21, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will preside at both services.

The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

A bloodmobile visit will be held in the front of the Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 at 300 East Center St. on Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 4:30-7:15 p.m.

The first 20 donors will get a T-shirt. First time donors must have proper identification.


The JROTC of the Panther Valley High School will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Feb., 17 at 6 p.m. All are invited to attend.

The Nesquehoning Republican Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 at Mapleshade Meadows 50 E. Locust Street Nesquehoning.

President Michael R Frey, will be in charge of the meeting. All officers and committeemen and committeewomen are asked to attend.

Summit Hill

Event canceled

Due to weather conditions, the Donut Nite festivities that were planned to be held tomorrow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, have been canceled.

Water authority

The Summit Hill Water Authority will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. John Michalik, president, will be in charge.

Senior citizen food pantry

The following is information for the new senior citizen food pantry.

Senior box sign-up will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18, starting at noon. This is open to all seniors (60 years of age and low income) who meet the guidelines.

Income eligibility is as follows: For a family of one, the monthly income can't be greater than $1,174. For a family of two, the monthly income can't be greater than $1,579.

Newly elected church council members will be installed on Sunday.

Borough committees

In addition to the borough council committee appointments that were listed in this column last week, Lansford Borough has several other committees that meet to handle borough affairs. They include:

New Building reviews all aspects of financing, establishing and obtaining a new building to house all borough departments; members Bob Gaughan, Tommy Vadyak and Mary Kruczek; meets as needed.

Summit Hill

Food distribution

The Summit Hill Food Pantry conducts a monthly distribution of food boxes to the needy in the community. Anyone in need of the assistance, or knowing of individuals or families who do, is asked to contact Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604, or Sandra Hill, 645-4617.

The pantry, a non-denominational entity, is always in need of donations and manual assistance. To donate items or your time, contact the above persons as well.
