Summit Hill

Historical society

The Summit Hill Historical Society will meet tonight at 7 o'clock at the museum on East Ludlow Street. Lee Mantz, president, will be in charge of the session.

The agenda will include discussions on a computer and peripherals; the Memorial Day weekend, including the society's float for the parade; and various fundraisers.

Lions to meet

The Summit Hill Lions Club will meet on Tuesday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Parkview Inn.

This will be the club's last regular meeting before summer.

Dinner will honor new priest

The Carbon/Schuylkill Serra Club will hold a dinner to honor Brian Miller, the newly ordained priest for the Allentown Diocese. The reception and dinner is sponsored by the Serra Club of the Allentown Diocese and will be held at the at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, at the Lehigh Valley Holiday Inn Conference Center, Route 100, Fogelsville.

Lansford

OLOA concert

Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, will hold its first annual band concert on Tuesday, May 18, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will last about 45 minutes. It will be directed by Thomas Dowd.

Family members and friends are invited to attend.

The C.H.O.S.E. Recreation Organization meeting will be held Monday, May 17 at 7 p.m. Presiding will be President Angela Krapf at her home on Bull Run Street, Coaldale.

The Nesquehoning Food Bank will be held May 20 at the Meed's Methodist Church from 1-3:30 p.m.

Free dinner

The free dinner in Nesquehoning at the Meed's Methodist Church will be held on Wednesday, May 26, from 5-7 p.m.

Food collection

On Saturday, the Nesquehoning Post Office collected food for the community food pantry.

The final business meeting for the Panther Valley Class of 2010 All Night Party will be held on Wednesday, May 12 at 7 p.m. in the high school library.

Parents will be voting on food, entertainment, prizes.

All suggestions are welcomed and all are encouraged to attend.

VFW auxiliary

The ladies auxiliary to VFW Post 8008 will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.

President Cathy Sommers will preside. Plans for installation and Memorial Day weekend event will be discussed and plans finalized.

Panther Valley School District has set year end release times and dates for students. The last day of school for seniors will be June 1. Seniors will be in school on May 27, 28 and June first until 10:35 a.m.

For students in elementary, middle school and grades nine to 11, their last days of school will be June 2, 3, 4 and 7. Elementary will dismiss at 12:30 p.m., middle school will dismiss at noon and high school students will dismiss at 10:35 a.m.
