Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Fink

Sarah Hoppes and Benjamin Fink were united in marriage on June 12, 2010 at Zion Stone Church of West Penn Township. The Rev. Michael Frost officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Teena Miller was the organist and Teresa Peterson was the vocalist.

The bride is the daughter of Darren and Tina Hoppes, New Ringgold. She chose Tiffany Billman to serve as maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Pamela Hoppes, Robin Fink, Hannah Shoemaker, Kristin Kistler and Beth Kistler. Addison Fink was the flower girl.

The 78th annual Reunion of the Strohl Family will be held Sunday, Aug. 1, at Palmerton Memorial Park.

Bring a covered dish and join everyone for the 1 p.m., luncheon. Sodas and hot dogs will be available for purchase. A brief business meeting will be held immediately after lunch. Bring cakes for the cakewalk and a small prize for bingo.

Please bring old family pictures and other Strohl mementos for discussion.

Agnes Josephine Kopec

Agnes Josephine Kopec, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, celebrated her 91st birthday on July 18.

Born in Harwood in 1919, Agnes also resided in Treskow, Hazleton, and West Hazleton over the years. She worked as an examiner in the garment industry. She married Peter Kopec on Nov. 1, 1944 and they were married until he passed away in 1977.

Agnes' passions are bowling, cooking, baking, shopping, and being involved in church activities. She is a member of Transfiguration Church in West Hazleton.

The Lehighton High School Class of 1947 held its 63rd reunion on July 17, at the Lehighton Legion Post 314, with 28 members attending. The 68th annual Marsh Family Reunion will be held on Aug. 8 at the 26th Street Playground in Northampton, next to Redner's. The meal will be at 12:30 p.m. and the business meeting will convene at 1:30 p.m. Register upon arrival.

Prizes will be awarded to the youngest male and female, the oldest male and female, traveling the farthest, the most recently married couple, longest married couple, and the largest family present.

Cake donations for the cake walk and donations for bingo prizes will be appreciated.

Aubrey Jane Oakes

A daughter, Aubrey Jane Oakes, was born at 2:29 p.m. on May 12, 2010 in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem to Kim R. and Arthur J. Oakes, of Bethlehem.

She weighed 7 pounds and measured 19 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Jane C. Goosley, Palmer Township, and the late Robert J. Goosley Sr.

Paternal grandparents are Arthur and Bernadine Oakes, Tamaqua.

Great-grandparents are Mary Goosley of Bethlehem and Helen Raymond of Tuscarora.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mase

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mase recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They were married July 2, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jim Thorpe.

Mrs. Mase is the former Anne Marie McHugh.

The couple have four children: Sally, wife of Wayne Smith; Ava, wife of John Bretzik; and Pamela Formica, all of Jim Thorpe; and Thomas Mase, and his wife Pamela of Palmyra.

They have six grandchildren: Bridget, wife of Eric Johnston; John Paul Bretzik; Heather Formica; David Formica (who passed away July 21, 2006); Cole Mase and Kendra Mase.

The Tamaqua High School Class of 1970 will hold a reunion in celebration of its 40th anniversary on Sept. 11, from 6-11 p.m., at the Tamaqua Elks. The evening will include a buffet, cash bar and music. Dress will be informal.

The Panther Valley High School Class of 1965 will hold its 45-year reunion on Aug. 7 at the Nesquehoning picnic grounds, beginning at noon.
