Anna Moore

Anna Moore, a resident at MapleShade Meadows Assisted Living Center in Nesquehoning, celebrated her 105th birthday on Nov. 3. She was born in East Mauch Chunk.

Her age impresses a lot of people. She still likes to do crossword puzzles, but attests that her fingers are tortured by arthritis and has a hard time holding her pencil.

For her meals she uses a special utensil attached to her silverware.

Kathryn Elizabeth Behun

A daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Behun, was born Aug. 31, 2010, to Elizabeth Pinkey and Stephen Behun III of Tamaqua. She was born in Pottsville Hospital, weighing in at 8 pounds, 15.5 ounces, and 21 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are George and Kathryn Pinkey of Hometown. Maternal great-grandmother is Ruth Benzak of Center Valley.

Paternal grandparents are Stephen and Candy Behun of Hometown.

Kathryn was welcomed home by her two brothers, Stephen, 4; and William, 2.

Elsie H. Lerch

Elsie H. Lerch, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, celebrated her 90th birthday on Nov. 9.

Born in Northampton in 1920, Elsie attended Northampton High School and worked as a production manager at Western Electric for 31 years.

Her passions over the years include sleigh riding, ice skating, and spending time with her friends at Peck's Pond.

She is a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Northampton.

John M. Uher and Kerry M. Jones

Donald and Sally Ann Jones of Lansford announce the engagement of their daughter, Kerry Maureen Jones of Coaldale, to John M. Uher, also of Coaldale.

The bride-to-be is a 2002 graduate of Panther Valley High School; a 2006 graduate of Arcadia University, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in English; and a 2010 graduate from Wilkes University, where she earned a master of education degree.

She is currently employed as an English teacher in the Panther Valley School District.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shoener

Mr. and Mrs. Charles LeRoy Shoener are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. They were married on Nov. 15, 1985 in St. John's Byzantine Church in Hazleton, by the Rev. John Opalanick.

Mrs. Shoener is the former Jean Ann Condrick, daughter of John and Eleanor Condrick of Hazleton. Her husband is the son of Silvia Shoener, New Ringgold, and the late LeRoy A. Shoener.

The Shoeners have a daughter, Jessica Ann Shoener of Tamaqua.

Bible Baptist Chapel, Grantville, was the setting for the Aug. 7 wedding of Meghan L. Johnson, daughter of Edward and Debra Johnson of Tamaqua, and Jeremy A. Massey, son of Ernest and Susan Massey of Grantville.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Regina Moran as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Allison Martin, Janine Martin, Tiffany Chapman and Loren Collura. Maddie Matrician, daughter of the bride's cousin, served as flower girl.

Mr. and Mrs. James Kachelries on their wedding day.

Hazel and James Kachelries of Tamaqua are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Nov. 12, 1960 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Middleport, Pa., by the late Rev. Pollack.

Mrs. Kachelries is the daughter of the late Elias and Maude (Reinhart) Hartranft of Tamaqua. Her husband is the son of the late Mahlon and Esther (Kunkle) Kachelries of Middleport.

The Kachelries have three children: Hazel Borosh, wife of Gary of Jim Thorpe; James Kachelries Jr., of Tamaqua; and John Kachelries, husband of Anne (Kachmer) Kachelries.
