Reneé Hrin and Joe Solt

The engagement of Reneé Hrin of Philadelphia, to Joe Solt of Lehighton, has been announced by their families.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of George Hrin and the late Mary Jane Hrin, both of Philadelphia. She is a 1987 graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School; a 1992 graduate from Holy Family University; and a 2003 graduate of Lehigh University, where she earned a master's degree in molecular biology. She is currently employed at Merck & Company, in West Point, Pa. as an HIV researcher.

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Allen Shupp

Sherry Lynn Haydt, daughter of Jerry and Sally Haydt of Kunkletown, became the bride of Daniel Allen Shupp, son of Karl and Grace Auchter of Macungie and the late Lloyd Shupp, on July 24, 2010, during an outside ceremony at Jerry and Sally Haydt's home. Judge Debby York officiated the ceremony. Dan Smale was the organist.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride chose Denise Shupp of Illinois as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelly Wilkins of Kunkletown; Kristin Sherer of Kunkletown, cousin of the bride; and Abby Shupp of Palmerton, the groom's daughter.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael T. Sniscak

Mr. and Mrs. Michael T. Sniscak of Nesquehoning recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They were married in 1947.

Mrs. Sniscak is the former Ann Choley.

The couple has a son, Mark, and his wife Nancy of Nesquehoning. They also have two grandchildren, Michael and Amber; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Airama.

A daughter, Mackenzie Reese Lorah, was born at 8:02 p.m., on Nov. 24, 2010, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, to Jason and Jamie (Troxell) Lorah of Andreas. She weighed 4 pounds, 11 ounces; and measured 17.75 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Cindy and Dale Troxell of Andreas. Paternal grandparents are Linda and Leroy Lorah of Andreas.

Mr. and Mrs. William C. Stahl

Mr. and Mrs. William C. Stahl of New Ringgold celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Dec. 19. They were married in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Coaldale, by the Rev. Sacks.

Mrs. Stahl is the former Julia J. DeSantis, daughter of the late attorney Paris J. and V. Mae (Garber) DeSantis. Her husband is the son of the late William C. and Margaret (Bashore) Stahl.

The couple has two daughters: Patricia J. (Stahl) Clifford and Marianna J. Stahl. They also have three grandchildren: Bryce, Bryn, and Baylen Clifford.

A daughter, Nora Alice Nothstein, was born at 5:22 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Pottsville Hospital to Ashley and Matthew Nothstein of Lansford.

She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and measured 17 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Mike and Mary Hall of Nesquehoning.

Paternal grandmother is Lisa Brauchle of Fogelsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Christopher A. Hartz

Jacquelyn M. Willing, daughter of Jack and Nancy Willing of Tamaqua, became the bride of Christopher A. Hartz, son of Bryan and Sharon DeLay of Tamaqua, and the late Rodney Hartz, Tamaqua, on June 5, 2010 at St. Jerome Church in Tamaqua. The Rev. James C. Bechtel officiated at the double ring ceremony. John Melley was the organist, Mary Minor was the soloist.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Cheryl (Stidham) Sitlinger of Tamaqua as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Cristy (Schaeffer) Clemson, of Mary D; and Amanda Hartz of Tamaqua, sister of the bridegroom.

Mr. and Mrs. William G. Hartranft

Mr. and Mrs. William G. Hartranft, Lehighton, are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. They were married on Dec. 24, 1955 at the Reformed Church in Tamaqua.

Mrs. Hartranft is the daughter of the late Leroy and Ruth Hein of Tamaqua. Her husband is the son of the late Daniel and Anna Hartranft.

The Hartranfts have four children: Bonnie Lee, wife of William Hrichin of Summit Hill; Laurie Ann, wife of James Dunkle of Jim Thorpe; William Charles Hartranft, Lehighton; and Kathy Joy, wife of Todd Kerschner of Summit Hill.

The bride is the daughter of Gary and Melodie Heydt, Weatherly, and the bridegroom is the son of Michael and Theresa Phillips of Otho, Iowa.

Pearl Jean Kromer

A daughter, Pearl Jean Kromer, was born at 7:38 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2010 at Schuylkill Medical Center, Pottsville, to SSG Karin L. Heffron and SSG LeRoy E. Kromer II, of Pottsville. She weighed 6 pounds, 15.5 ounces and measured 19 inches long.

She was welcomed home by her 5-year-old brother Pierce James Kromer.

Maternal grandparents are Jim and Georgine Heffron of Duncott, Pa.

Paternal grandparents are LeRoy and Regina Kromer of Andreas. Paternal great-grandparents are Nicholas and Margaret Butrie of Lansford.
