Carbon commissioners, salary board make personnel moves

Carbon County officials made a number of personnel and salary board moves during Thursday's meetings of the commissioners and salary board.

Salary Board• Adult Probation: Establish the position of one probation officer II (AFSCME Professional Union) at $17.39 per hour; and abolish the position of one probation officer I (AFSCME Professional Union) at $16.39 per hour, both effective May 19.• Public Defender: Establish the position of one public defender office manager at $13.02 per hour; and Abolish the position of one legal secretary I at $12.31 per hour, both effective May 8.• Sheriff: Establish the position of one special deputy sheriff trainee at $14.10 per hour, excluded from the retirement plan; and abolish the position of one special deputy sheriff at $14.81 per hour, both effective May 4.• Treasurer: Change the rate of one part-time licensing clerk from $11.16 per hour, to $10.52 per hour, effective May 4.• Corrections: Change the rate of one part-time corrections officer from $11.95 per hour, to $11.60 per hour, effective May 8.Commissioners• Resignations: Samantha O'Donnell of Nesquehoning, part-time licensing clerk, effective April 17; Amanda C. McMahon of Allentown, 911 operator, effective May 2; and Eugene A. Nalesnik of Jim Thorpe, part-time parking attendant, effective May 31.• Hires: Melissa L. Miller of Lehighton, parking aide, Parks; and Anthony Staivecki of Nesquehoning, part-time dispatcher/trainee, Communications Center, both effective May 8.• Clerk of Courts appointment: Mariah M. May of Lehighton, collection clerk II, Bureau of Collections, effective May 8.• Changes of status: Derek D. George of Lehighton, from probation officer I to probation officer II, effective May 19; Kelley T. McElmoyle of Jim Thorpe, from legal secretary I to public defender office manager, effective May 8.
