Commissioners remember planner

Carbon officials remembered a Jim Thorpe man who recently passed away who was a longtime board member to two commissions.

Commissioners' Chairman Wayne Nothstein remembered Al Feuerstein for his dedication to the Carbon County Planning Commission and Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board over the years.Feuerstein passed away on July 16 at the age of 94.Nothstein said that Feuerstein was a very active member and attended most of the meetings.At the planning commission, which he served on for 36 years, he was known for his sense of humor, always joking that he had ice cream in the car that was going to melt."Al will certainly be missed in those positions," Nothstein said.The commissioners also approved reappointments to the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board. They included:• Community representatives, The Rev. Sharon Frye of Weatherly; Brian P. Harrison, Social Security Administration, Hazleton; and Jean Zimmerman of Weatherly. All are for two-year terms to June 30, 2019.• Consumer representatives, Sandra Gallagher of Jim Thorpe and Genie Marie Boyd of Nesquehoning. Both are two-year terms to June 30, 2019.• Community representatives Joseph Sebelin, Pocono WIA, Jim Thorpe; and Virginia Tatusko, Blue Mountain Health System, Lehighton. Both are one-year terms to June 30, 2018.• Consumer representatives, Ronald J. Blisard of Nesquehoning, Anthony DiMiceli of Nesquehoning and Grace Riggio of Lehighton. All are for one-year terms to June 30, 2018.
