Carbon man, 10 juveniles trash apartment

A Carbon County man and 10 juveniles are in trouble after they trashed an apartment complex in Nesquehoning last year.

Charges were filed against Randy Michlovsky, 19, and the 10 boys last week in connection with a burglary on West Railroad Street on March 27. Addresses listed for Michlovsky on court documents for the incident are 213 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, as well as 122 W. Mill St., Nesquehoning.Michlovsky was arraigned on charges of criminal trespass and criminal mischief before District Judge Edward Lewis on Tuesday.Bail was set at $20,000 unsecured and was posted.The juveniles also face charges for their part in the incident, police said.According to the affidavit, filed by Nesquehoning police officer Richard Neikam, on March 27, police were called to the 100 block of West Railroad Street after a person found extensive damage to the apartments.Neikam spoke with Robert Fanaro, who identified himself as thereal estate agent for the three-unit apartment complex.Fanaro told police that extensive damage was discovered in two of the units ranging from holes throughout the apartments, broken doors and windows and other things. Damage to the units totaled $4,915.23.Neighbors around the apartment told police that there were juveniles who frequently hung out around the property.On March 30, officer Derek Marouchoc spoke with the manager of CVS on Locust Street regarding surveillance footage for Jan. 16, since a receipt was found inside one of the apartments for that date. The video showed a teen, later identified as Michlovsky, purchasing a package of condoms.On April 2, Neikam interviewed a 12-year-old male, who admitted being in one of the apartments with four other juveniles, but he did not do any of the damage.On April 7 and 17, a second and third juvenile, named by the 12-year-old, confirmed the story, saying they were with the four others in the apartment, and named other juveniles who had been there at one time or another.During the third interview, the juvenile told police that he saw one of the other juveniles kicking the walls.Additional interviews with a number of the juveniles took place between April and June regarding the incident and to corroborate stories.A preliminary hearing for Michlovsky has been scheduled for 3 p.m. on Jan. 18 before Lewis.
