Kemery receives academic honor

Northern Lehigh graduate Gavin Kemery was recently named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team.

Kemery, a freshman at Moravian College, was one of four Greyhounds honored, but was the only one from the men's team.The former Bulldog finished 79th of 351 runners at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional at DeSales with a time of 26:44, and he earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors by placing sixth at the Landmark Conference Championships with a season-best time of 26:30.72 for 8,000 meters.To earn All-Academic individual honors, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and have finished in the top 25 percent of the finishers at the NCAA Division III Regionals last November.The Moravian men's and women's cross country teams were also honored as All-Academic Teams. To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater and also complied a team score at the NCAA Regionals. Kemery was part of a men's team that had a cumulative GPA of 3.32.Kemery is the son of Dawn and Francis Kemery, and is majoring in English.
