Tamaqua Police report

Tamaqua police released information on a number of complaints recently received by officers.

• James Allen Herold, 56, of the 200 block of Schuylkill Avenue, Shenandoah, was cited for theft by unlawful taking after visiting a home on Hunter Street on Feb. 3. He reportedly took a roll of quarters, valued at $10, from the home.

• William Peterson, 20, of the 100 block of Clay Street, Tamaqua, was cited for retail theft on Feb. 7. An employee at the Family Dollar Store, 125 Center St., witnessed Peterson placing a bag of Snyder’s buffalo wing pretzels in his jacket pocket. The bag was valued at $2. He was also banned from the store.

• Shiane Elaine Follweiler, 24, of the 300 block of Hazle Street, Tamaqua, was charged with harassment by communication after she texted threatening messages to another woman. The messages were sent on Jan. 31.

• Christine Lynn Oxner, 46, of Ash Lane, Andreas, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on Jan. 31. Officers saw Oxner driving a vehicle at 5:50 p.m. and confirmed there was a warrant for her arrest. When taking her into custody, officers found five hypodermic needles, a cotton swab, spoon and several empty glassine bags marked “Lights out.” She was taken to the Carbon County Prison in Nesquehoning to answer to the warrant, which had been issued by the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office.

• Helen Edwards, 53, of the 500 block of N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness on Feb. 7. Edwards initially reported the theft of her EBT and debit cards at 9:28 a.m. Instead, the cards were found in her purse. At 10:25 a.m., Edwards arrived at borough hall, where she created a disturbance, yelling and screaming. She refused to leave and was placed in a holding cell, and released after sobering up.
