Lehighton district approves payments

Lehighton Area School District's board of directors approved total payments of $604,985.66 Monday night for project design, permits and construction throughout the district.

The breakdown of payments is as follows:Stadium: $6,232.46 to Barry Isset and Associates and $110,515.40 to CMG of Easton.Middle school: $20,041.67 to EI Associates, $187,965.45 to Jay R. Reynolds Inc., $138,433.64 to Lobar Inc., and $16,545.50 to Quandel Construction Group.High school: $40,463.19 to EI Associates, $58,558.50 to Jay R. Reynolds Inc., $3,000 to Lehighton Borough, and $16,545.50 to Quandel Construction Group.Elementary center: $6,684.35 to EI Associates.In other action items, the board:• Retained its solicitor, William Schwab, at $155 per hour.• Approved a contract with James Schwab, Clinical Psychologist Services, at a maximum $38,880.• Approved an agreement with Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 to participate in the technology education legal pool counsel consortium at a maximum $900 for the 2016-17 school year. The technology pool provides proactive strategies, training and policies designed to prevent digital-age problems that can lead to liability.• Approved the STEM immersion planning service through asset STEM education at a cost of $3,550. Funding will be provided through the National Education Foundation STEM stipend money.• Appointed Andrew Yenser as treasurer for the 2016-17 school year.• Hired Brandi Lees as a secondary math teacher for 2016-17 at a salary of $40,850.• Accepted the resignation of Terri Johnson, lunch time aide, effective May 26.• Approved the 2016-17 Lehighton Area Middle School student handbook/planner.• Approved the contract with Behavioral Health Associates for the 2016-17 school year and to participate in the cost savings program.• Approved the 2017 prom to be held at Hotel Bethlehem on Friday, May 5.
