Beginning June 5 the George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets, Catasauqua, will showcase the early American folk-art techniques of the late Doris Hendricks Fry. The exhibit will feature the varied decorative art styles and media employed by Fry, including American primitive painting, theorem painting, reverse glass painting and tole painting.
Featured at the opening will be her son, Dave Fry, folk musician and teaching artist.Curator for the exhibit is Emily Strong, previous exhibitor at The Payne Gallery at Moravian College in Bethlehem, and current curator at The Alternative Gallery in Allentown.Following the opening, which will run from 1 to 4 p.m., the exhibit will remain open during regular public visiting hours throughout the 2016 season.
