3 Schuylkill inmates face charges

Three inmates at the federal prison at Minersville, Schuylkill County, are facing charges according to the U.S. attorney's office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Attorney Peter Smith said a federal grand jury in Scranton on Tuesday indicted two inmates for illegal possession of homemade weapons in two separate cases.Inmate Michael Thompson, 30, was charged with possession of a homemade sharpened weapon known as a "shank" in January. Inmate James Bailey-Snyder, 23, was charged for a similar offense which occurred in August 2015.If convicted, the maximum sentence for both defendants is a sentence of up to five years and a fine of $250,000.The investigations were conducted by the FBI. The cases are assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd K. Hinkley.Jamel Rosa, 27, was indicted on a charge of resisting and assaulting corrections officers during an incident on July 1, 2015.The investigation was conducted by the FBI and officers from Minersville facility. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan Gotlob.
