Carbon County Emergency Management Agency has announced that registration is open for a first responder safety training for natural gas vehicles and fueling stations that will held in Carbon County in September.

The Pennsylvania State Fire Academy is offering the five-hour class, which will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 18 at the Carbon County EMA, 1264 Emergency Lane, Nesquehoning, using curriculum from the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium of the West Virginia University.The class will cover compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas.It will properly train and educate first responders on the properties, manufacture and production, vehicles, infrastructure, transport, stations and handling, as well as first responder procedures related to CNG and LNG.Preregistration is mandatory and no walk-ins will be permitted the day of the course.To register, first responders should complete the online application and submit to ra-emaeer@pa.gov; complete the manual application and email to Jerry Bimle at
