A Palmerton Borough Council member's resignation was accepted at the borough meeting on Thursday night.

Council member Jeremy Barbosa's letter of resignation had been serving as chairman pro tem since January of this year.Barbosa, who was not in attendance at the meeting, resigned due to undisclosed personal reasons.The announcement came after a temporary adjournment of the regular meeting for an executive session."It is sad, and we'll be sending a letter thanking him for his service," said council member Terry L. Costenbader.Costenbader said anyone interested in filling Barbosa's vacancy can submit applications to the Palmerton Borough Council office before Aug. 19. The Council seeks to have the seat filled by the next regular meeting on Aug. 25.
