A Tamaqua man was cited after he entered a condemned home in an attempt to retrieve some of his belongings.

Police were called at 6:15 p.m. on July 28 after Gordon Machay, 40, of 410 E. Union St., Tamaqua, was observed, by a neighbor, entering a property at 335 Hazle St., Tamaqua. The house, owned by Gail and William Fritz, was posted as condemned on July 27.Machay said he entered the home to get his clothes and was told he needed to contact borough authorities to arrange for an accompanied visit.Machay was cited for harassment as he reportedly told a neighbor he would "burn down her house" when she spoke to him.
