Carbon man admits fleeing police

A Carbon County man admitted fleeing police after he was found illegally entering a property in Weatherly.

He entered a guilty plea before Carbon Judge Joseph J. Matika on Tuesday.Collin William Longworth, 20, of Weatherly, was arrested on Sept. 23 to the rear of 458 Plane St., by Weatherly police for illegally entering the property. Police responded to the area to a report of an unwanted person. When confronted and told he was being placed under arrest, Longworth fled on foot. A foot chase continued in the area but Longworth was eventually apprehended.He pleaded to one count each of criminal trespass and escape.Longworth is in the county prison on the charges but also has detainers filed against him at the prison from authorities in Montour and Columbia counties.Matika sentenced him to time-served (63 days) to one year in jail and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service. The term was imposed on both counts running concurrently.Longworth will not be released from custody but transferred to one of the counties that has a detainer against him.
