Emergency vehicle course held

The Carbon County Firemen's Association sponsored an Emergency Vehicle Operation Course program for the County Emergency Services recently.

Parryville, Lehighton and Summit Hill fire departments participated in the event.The program is divided up into two sections eight hours of classroom instruction and eight hours of practical instruction.The firefighters practice their skills in backing, overhead obstructions, diminished lanes, and parking and backing through a serpentine layout of cones.The association contracted with Bucks County Community College to provide local level programs with over 200 hours of instruction for the year. Bucks County Community College provided two local level instructors, Robert Ward and Hondo Nobel, to instruct and evaluate the participants.KME hosted the program at their facility in Nesquehoning and the Good Will Fire Company of Trexlertown provided the traffic cones.
