Kenneth C. Frassinelli and Fred Evans, both newcomers in the political field, survived a battle of five opponents for the mayor's position in Summit Hill.

Frassinelli won the Democratic nomination with 437 votes, easily defeating former mayor William Mansberry and newcomer George A. Yurkunas.Evans was the decisive winner over William Watkins Jr., 164-36, in the GOP balloting.Present Mayor Phillip Shelton did not seek re-election.
