Calarco fires BML gem

Caleb Calarco outdueled Zach Palansky as the Northern Yankees edged the Berlinsville Braves, 1-0, in a Blue Mountain League contest.

Calarco, a graduate of Tamaqua, pitched five scoreless innings to gain the win. He scattered six hits while striking out four. Casey Cooperman tossed the final two frames for the save.Palansky, a Northern Lehigh grad, went the despite and gave up just three hits. He walked two while fanning 10.Christian Marcin, who graduated from Palmerton, had a triple for the Braves but was left stranded at third.The winners, managed by Lehighton High School head coach Brian Polaha, pushed across a third inning run for the only tally of the game.
