Jim Thorpe woman facing DUI count

A Jim Thorpe woman has been cited by Coaldale police after a Jan. 8 incident at Pappy's Mini Mart on Route 209.

At 5:08 p.m. a mini mart employee called police to report suspicious activity in the parking lot. A black Honda Accord and another vehicle had been in the lot for quite some time, away from the building, with the engines running.When police arrived they found the black Honda and identified the driver as Jasmine M. Yaich, 29, of North Avenue, Jim Thorpe. Yaich appeared to be under the influence of something and had a white substance around her nose. She was given, and failed, field sobriety tests before being transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus for blood tests.During a consent search officers found an unmarked pill bottle, burnt residue in Yaich's coat pocket, as well as a black zipper wallet containing a straw with white residue and a green pipe.Blood test results were positive for methamphetamine and marijuana. She was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
