Hometown crash injures one

One person was injured in a one-car crash Friday on Route 309 in Hometown.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 10:18 a.m. for a report of a car into a bridge in Rush Township, three miles north of Tamaqua.According to those at the scene, a Volkswagen GTI appeared to be heading northbound when it crossed four lanes and crashed into the guardrail and concrete bridge wall on Claremont Avenue just north of Two Kings Restaurant.The female driver was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries by Tamaqua Community Ambulance.The incident happened during heavy snowfall and roads were snow covered and slippery.Also responding were Rush Township Police, Hometown Fire Company, Tamaqua Rescue, Hometown Fire Police, and Hope's Collision and Towing of Tamaqua.No other details were available.
