Tamaqua Borough Council honored members of the Tamaqua Area High School Varsity Track and Field Team at its regular June meeting. Five members of the team earned gold medals at the District XI Track and Field Championships held in May. Councilman Dave Mace presented certificates of achievement to the gold medalists.Athletes include: Morgan Boyle, javelin; Monica Shimko, girls 800 meter relay team; Victoria LaBar, 800 meter relay team; and Chelsea Frantz, 800 meter relay team. Also a member of the winning relay team, but unable to make the council meeting is Janette Kabana.
