McDonald's closed over water heater problem

An anonymous customer complaint has temporarily shut down the McDonald's restaurant on Route 209 in Brodheadsville.

The restaurant was closed Tuesday after an inspection by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture confirmed that there was a water heater issue.A notice of violation was posted on the door by the department of agriculture food inspector as well as a sign from the management, saying that the hot water heater wasn't functioning and would be repaired shortly."We would love to see you back here for dinner with a free dessert from us," the sign said.When a call was placed to the restaurant, a female manager answered and said, "I'm not allowed to comment," and hung up.Logan Hall, a spokesman for the department of agriculture, said when the issue is resolved, the restaurant will contact the department to schedule an inspection.An inspector will visit the site to give approval to resume business.When the restaurant was inspected in January, there were four violations:• Food employees observed in prep area not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats or beard covers.• Chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was 0 ppm.• Drain line under three compartment sink leaks.• An accumulation of grease was observed in the hand wash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing.To make a complaint about a restaurant, visit
