Carbon County Correctional Facility officials report that an inmate committed suicide this weekend.

Warden Timothy Fritz said details of the incident could not be released at this time.He said Nesquehoning police were called to the scene and a joint investigation between borough police and prison officials is taking place.According to Carbon County Coroner Bruce Nalesnik, the inmate was Travis Schoenberger.According to court records, Schoenberger, 27, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct. He was sentenced April 14 to three to six months in the county prison.Nalesnik said an autopsy would be performed today to determine cause of death.Commissioner Thomas J. Gerhard, county prison board president, said officials were notified early Sunday afternoon, but said that he was not able to comment at this time.He said the prison will provide a report to the prison board after the investigation is completed.
