Police investigate multiple crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several crashes investigated by troopers recently.

A two-vehicle crash occurred at 2 p.m. on Aug. 29 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Carlos R. Ruiz, 27, of Kunkletown, and Andrew G. Farley, 40, of Albrightsville, were both southbound when Farley stopped due to traffic ahead of him. Ruiz was unable to stop, with the front of his 1998 Chevrolet Malibu striking the rear of Farley's 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 truck.Ruiz then fled the scene, but Farley was able to obtain the registration plate number. Ruiz is facing charges, troopers said. No injuries were reported.A one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:44 p.m. on Sept. 24 along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said James H. Melber, 54, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2007 Toyota Yaris eastbound when he struck a pothole, causing him to lose control. The Toyota went onto the berm and struck a tree. Melber was not injured, but the car sustained heavy front end damage.A two-vehicle crash was reported at 3:48 p.m. on Sept. 24 along Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Lauren P. Yarbrough, 17, of Saylorsburg, was southbound and Melissa S. Novack, 30, of Saylorsburg, was northbound. Yarbrough's 2008 Nissan Versa struck the guard rail along the westbound shoulder, traveled into the northbound lane and struck Novack's 2013 Nissan Maxima.Yarbrough was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Novack was not injured. Yarbrough was cited for causing the crash, troopers said.A three-vehicle crash occurred at 6:17 p.m. on Sept. 24 along Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Marshall M. Hanyon, 17, of Brodheadsville; Meara Quintana, 46, of Albrightsville; and Albert Ruiz, 86, of Effort, were all northbound. Quintana and Ruiz stopped. Hanyon was unable to stop, with the front of his 2013 Ford F105 truck hitting the rear of Ruiz's 2004 Dodge Ram truck, pushing it into the rear of Quintana's 2005 Saturn VUE.Quintana was injured and taken to PCM by Wind Gap ambulance. No one else was injured.Troopers cited Hanyon for following too closely.A one-vehicle crash occurred at 5:32 p.m. on Sept. 25 along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough. Troopers said John Jackson, 60, of Wakefield, Rhode Island, was towing a 20-foot camper with his 2006 Toyota Tundra truck while westbound when the trailer jackknifed, causing Jackson to lose control. The vehicle rolled over, coming to final rest along the shoulder of the road.Jackson and his passenger, Victoria Jackson, 60, same address, were not injured.
