Book signing in Jim Thorpe

Local author Jeff Davis (writing as J.L. Davis) will be signing copies of his latest novel from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Soundcheck Records on Broadway in Jim Thorpe."CRUDE" is a psychological suspense thriller, in which Eddie Slate, a normal everyday guy, finds himself spiraling into an apocalyptic world where the only rule for survival is self preservation after the global oil supply becomes abruptly exhausted."CRUDE" is Davis' second novel, the first is a satire titled "Nesting with the Loons." Books are available in both Kindle format and trade paperback, Amazon, B&N, etc.Davis will also be at Barnes & Noble in Wilkes-Barre at the Arena Hub at 6 p.m. Oct. 25.Free screening of 'The Grapes of Wrath'Northampton Community College, in partnership with ArtsQuest, will sponsor a free screening and discussion of "The Grapes of Wrath" at Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas at 7 p.m. Monday.The classic 1940 drama tells the tale of a farming family fleeing the Oklahoma Dust Bowl for the "promised land" of California. It stars Henry Fonda and John Carradine, and was directed by Oscar winner John Ford.The screening is free and open to the public, but tickets must be reserved either in person at Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, or by calling the ArtsQuest office at 610-297-7100.This screening is part of part of a yearlong exploration of the theme, "Agriculture & the American Identity" at NCC.
