Lehighton area LifeSkills students thank veterans

Students from the Life Skills class at Lehighton Area High School made special crafts patriotic mini message centers for the veterans at The Summit at Blue Mountain Health Systems Lehighton Campus.

During their visit, the students heard stories of special memories from a few of the veterans.One in particular was a story about General Patton's right hand man and the time that was had serving under the general."It's much more pleasurable to hear it from someone who experienced it rather than reading it from a book," said Kristel Orsulak, the special education classroom teacher.Orsulak and Pat Lombardo, classroom paraprofessional, and nine of their students were involved in the making of the crafts.The patriotic mini message centers were presented to Lou Rauch (Army), Diana Demiamenko (Marines), Harry Shiffert (Army), Joe Lutsko (Army/Navy), Albert Kaplan (Air Force), Richard Brode (Navy), Carlos Mendoza (Marines) and Norman Ellis (National Guard).
