Township replaces truck

Lower Towamensing Township has a new set of wheels at a cost of $21,000.

At a special meeting on Monday, the township's board of supervisors agreed to purchase a 2008 Ford F-350 from Penske Truck Leasing, of Reading, Berks County. Supervisor Ron Walbert was absent.The township had budgeted $50,000 in this year's budget for the truck, which replaces a 1996 bucket truck that supervisors previously said was not fully functional and was a safety hazard.In other business, supervisors:• Agreed to have township solicitor Jim Nanovic send a letter to have 100 acres of land owned by township residents Troy and Sherry Johnson, of 2160 Hahns Dairy Road placed in the Agricultural Security Area.• Agreed to take out a half-page ad in the amount of $35 for the Carbon County Township Supervisors Association.
