Camera club wins awards

It's been said the cream always rises to the top.

That idiom proved true recently for members of the Palmerton Camera Club, which snagged awards during its recent Spring Salon.In all, there were 16 entries, according to Roger Smith, Palmerton Camera Club publicity. The subject was a 12-photograph entry of what would be used for a calendar, Smith said.Smith said there were three awards given: Marc Beerman, best overall; Jim Denicola, most creative; and David Frankenfield, best technical.The second event was the presentation and awards of the photograph scavenger hunt, Smith said.Individual category awards and a perpetual award trophy that the winning club will keep for the year were presented, he said.In the end, the Palmerton Camera Club won the trophy over the Pocono Camera Club, Smith said.All told, there were 11 members from each club, with 174 entries, Smith said. Six honorable mentions were added to the award list as well, he said.Palmerton Camera Club members that contributed to winning the perpetual trophy were: Jackie Kaspern, Renee Garrison, Roger Smith, Deb Beerman, Kris Minnich, Peggy Wall and Richard Wall.A third event, the annual ice cream social, in which participants built their own sundae, was also held, Smith said.The Palmerton Camera Club meets at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton.All meetings are open to the public.
