Car hits pole when driver falls asleep

Dena B. Due, 30, of Emmaus, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash at 12:50 a.m. Dec. 8 on Interchange Road in Polk Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said she was driving a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker on Route 209 when it drifted off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole head-on, continuing to hit a speed limit sign before coming to a final halt just off the roadway.Police said she told police she fell asleep at the wheel prior to the impact.She will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
