Carbon OKs personnel changes

Carbon County officials made a number of appointments and personnel moves during their recent meeting.

On Thursday, the board voted on the following actions:Appointments• Accept the resignation of Nick Krutz of Wilkes-Barre on the AAA Advisory Board, effective Jan. 31.• Appoint Guy Lounge of Wilkes-Barre as the community representative for the AAA Advisory Board. This fills the unexpired term created with Krutz's resignation. It expires June 30, 2015.• Reappoint Richard Fedor of Lehighton and Robert Selert of Weatherly to three-year terms on the Agricultural Preservation board. The term shall expire April 10, 2017.• Accept the resignation of David Althouse of Lehighton on the Industrial Development Authority.• Appoint Ron Tirpak of Summit Hill to the Industrial Development Authority. He fills the unexpired term created by Althouse's resignation. The term shall expire Dec. 31, 2016.• Reappoint Craig Zurn of Jim Thorpe to a five-year term on the Industrial Development Authority. The term shall expire Dec. 31, 2018.ElectionThe commissioners approved agreements with Kristian Koehler of Jim Thorpe and Robert Miller of Nesquehoning to serve as roving troubleshooters in the May 20 and Nov. 4 elections. They shall receive $200 a day plus 45-cents a mile.Personnel• Rescind the motion hiring Samantha D. Bowman of Lehighton as the summer clerk for the Archives department, effective Feb. 10. The board then hired Bowman as the part-time clerk in Archives, effective Feb. 18. The move was because the board felt the position title was not accurate since it was not being used during the summer months.• Change that status of Ruth A. Serafin of Jim Thorpe from part-time corrections officer/Teamsters to corrections officer in the prison, effective March 3.
