Santa Claus is coming to Weissport.

The jolly human symbol of Christmas will be making a stop at the borough hall from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 13, said Linda Schoenberger, president of the Weissport Recreation Commission.Schoenberger said the visit is for the children and grandchildren of Weissport residents, but nobody is turned away.In other matters:• Council will adopt to its 2015 budget at its Dec. 15 meeting. No tax increase is planned. Borough secretary/treasurer Jillyann Sterling said the borough presently has a real estate tax of 10.9 mills.• Sterling suggested an annual newsletter for borough residents which could be mailed with annual bills. She said the newsletter could contain such information as who to contact in the borough (phone numbers regarding sewer issues, borough matters, garbage collection, etc.), times the borough office is open, and dates of various meetings. Council agreed.• Sterling also said the borough hall will be open each Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed noon to 12:30 p.m. for lunch), during which time residents may visit with questions, concerns, permit requests, pay bills, or for any other borough-related matter.• Mayor Jonathan Troutman urged that a letter be sent to a property owner on Franklin Street regarding shoveling snow off the sidewalks. He said the property owner apparantly lives in Virginia and is scheduled to move back to Weissport, but hasn't done so. He said during the last snowfall, the sidewalks of the property weren't cleared.
