16th annual Zoostock planned

Zoostock, an annual, one-day festival in Lansford that has morphed into one of the largest fundraising events in the area for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, will be held Monday at the Sports Zoo/Halftime Sports Bar.

This marks the 16th year of Zoostock. It will be held from noon to 8 p.m. and have free music, variety, food and other concessions.Lisa Hiles, a coordinator of Zoostock, said last year's combined Zoo Crew events enabled them to present the Cancer Society with $23,000 at its annual telethon.It is held rain or shine, and those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket. A.D.D.Ann Marie Calabrese of Coolbreeze Imaging and host of "Stuck in the '80s" on Magic 105.5 WMGH will serve as emcee.Hiles said planning for the event takes a full year. "We start planning next year's Zoostock the day after this ends," she said."It's a family affair," she said. "We have hundreds of people involved in putting it all together. It's an all-volunteer effort.""Everything goes right to the Cancer Society," Hiles said.
