Stolen safe, other thefts investigated

State police at Fern Ridge are investigatingseveral thefts that occurred in Chestnuthill Township, including the theft of a safe.

Troopers said Jesus Elias, 61, of 111 Hawk Terrace, Saylorsburg, reported a safe containing financial paperwork was removed from his residence sometime between July 28 and Aug. 14.Joseph Schmitt, 5, of 128 Switzgable Drive, Brodheadsville, reported someone removed $100 in cash from his wallet, which was in his unlocked truck in front of his home. The theft occurred sometime between 3:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Friday.Thefts from vehicles were investigated along Mount Effort Drive in Effort. Four parked and unlocked vehicles were entered and money was removed. The victims are Michael Kider, 25; John Hopkin, 53; Emilia Ringweliski, 34; Halina Kuzidmska, 58; and Julia Prusik, 32, all of Effort.Karen Lutin-Correa, 44, of 180 Shenkel Road, in Effort, reported someone broke the front window on her van parked at her residence. The incident was reported at 1:09 a.m. on Saturday.Anyone with information concerning any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at 570-646-2271.
