State police probe Monroe crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes probed along Monroe County roads.

A crash occurred at 9:47 a.m. on Friday along Route 115, in Ross Township, north of Anchorage Road.Troopers said Karl F. Gaffin, 42, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 truck northbound while Jennifer J. Biechy, 40, of Brodheadsville, was operating a 2003 Ford Escape southbound.Gaffin's unsecured tonneau cover flew off his truck and struck the windshield of Biechy's vehicle. The Escape veered from its lane of travel, crossing into the northbound lane, continued south, and went onto the east berm where it struck an embankment with the driver's side front end.It then traveled about 50 feet as it rolled over clockwise one complete turn. The Escape came to rest facing south just off the northbound lane.After the crash occurred, Gaffin stopped his truck in front of the Escape facing north.Biechy was taken by West End ambulance to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of a minor injury, troopers said. Gaffin was not injured.The Escape was towed from the scene.Troopers cited Gaffin for not securing the load in his vehicle.Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash about 1:42 p.m. on March 31 along Jonas Road in Polk Township. Troopers said Alicia Granville-Fernand, 41, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2003 Honda Civic westbound and attempting to maneuver a right curve when the car left the road on the north side.Troopers said Granville-Fernand overreacted and made the car roll over on the south side of the road.Granville-Fernand and a child in a child safety seat were not injured. She was cited, troopers said.
