A Lansford man faces charges stemming from a series of bad decisions made over the summer.
Summit Hill police said Gregory Macalush, 21, of 218. W. Water St., Lansford, was charged with theft by unlawful taking; receiving stolen property; and theft from a motor vehicle.
On June 27 police received a call from a resident who report that his wallet had been stolen. They later found that someone had tried several times to use the credit cards that were in the wallet. An investigation turned up still photos and a video from a store that showed Macalush trying to use the cards.
Macalush was also charged with criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property stemming from an incident on July 8, when he allegedly went onto someone's front porch and removed items, which he put into a baby stroller. In that instance he was caught in the act on the owner's video security system.
Macalush also found himself in more trouble that day.
That day a man told police someone took two bicycles from his home. Later that same day they stopped a woman, Ashlyn McCartney, 19, riding a bike on Lentz Trail. McCartney was stopped because police wanted to talk with her about an unrelated matter.
It turned out the bicycle she was riding was one of those that had been stolen earlier that day. Riding next to her, on the other stolen bicycle, was Macalush.
Both were charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
